Mobility Programmes for Students

All enrolled students of the Department of History and Social Sciences may apply for a stay abroad. Studying abroad offers a lot of possibilities to acquire new knowledge and skills. Besides the course contents, you will get to know a foreign country and a different culture, gain new insights, meet people and learn a new language. Seize this opportunity to gain precious and unforgettable experiences abroad!

All enrolled students of the Department of Social Sciences and History can apply for a stay abroad. They can choose from exchange opportunities in the following country areas: Europe (ERASMUS+ program), North America, Australia and New Zealand, South America and Asia.

Exchange possibilities

  • Find out about exchange opportunities on on the website of the International relations and mobility.
  • Have a consultation with the contact person at your institute (e.g. during office hours) before submitting your application. Please refer to the websites of the respective institutes for further information on exchange programs.
    • Fill out the online application in the application portal.
    • The online application form will be activated from 15.10.2020 to 30.11.2020.
    • Send the online application and other documents as a PDF file by e-mail to the contact person at your Institute. The application includes the following documents:
      • Printout of the online application form
      • Letter of motivation
      • current performance level
      • Language certificates
  • Please notice:
    • Application documents are only accepted at the Institutes of the Department of History and Social Sciences during the current application period.
    • You should plan for your study abroad at least one year in advance. Applications for study abroad in the academic year of 2020/2021 occur in the fall of 2019. The main application deadline is November 30, 2019.
    • Even if you plan to study abroad in the summer semester in 2021, you must apply in the fall of 2019.

After you have submitted all your documents, the institutes and the department will decide whether to select you for placement at one of our partner universities. The selection is made based on academic performance, language ability, plan for study, and personal suitability. For questions about the selection process, please ask the international representative of your department.

As soon as the department has made their selections, these decisions will be given to the Office of International Relations and Mobility for further discussions. If you have been selected for a study abroad programme, you will receive an email and will be invited to accept your spot (letter of acceptance).

Once you accept your spot you will be nominated at the partner university.
