TUCaN, examinations, forms

In the central TUCaN-FAQ you will find a lot of detailed information about using TUCaN and organizing your studies including instructions and video tutorials.

1. Download the form„Anmeldung zur Abschlussarbeit (Registration for thesis) (opens in new tab) “. Complete the PDF form electronically.

2. Forward the completed form to the first assessor and ask them to sign it and add the date of assigning the topic (= start of set term during which the final thesis is to be written and submitted to the Office for Student Affairs). Please note and ensure that the start of the set term is not the date of submitting this form to the Office for Student Affairs, but the date, on which the topic was assigned. The date of topic assignment must not be predated.

3. The first assess will return the form to you by email.

4. Follow the same procedure when sending your registration to the second assessor. (The form signed by the first assessor will be sent to the second assessor requesting their signature.)

5. After signing, the assessor will return the form to the student by email.

6. Forward the now fully completed form to the Office for Student Affairs by email.

7. The Office for Student Affairs will now check the submitted documentation.

8. Provided your registration is complete and valid, you will be registered for the final module / to write the thesis in TUCaN by the person in charge at the Office for Student Affairs.

9. The Office for Student Affairs will inform everybody involved (student, assessors) about the successfully completed registration.

In TUCaN, you will only see completed modules in the transcript of records. If individual grades are still missing, the entire module will not be displayed. You can see the individual achievements under “Semester results” in TUCaN. If you have any questions about this, please send your request to the study office via the contact form .

Registration in TUCaN always starts with the module, then with the course. Course registration in TUCaN is done in three steps:

What is to be considered?
According to §15 Abs. 1 APB, withdrawal from an examination is usually possible up to 7 days before the examination date.

Example:
The exam will take place on 22 May. Withdrawal without giving reasons is therefore usually possible until 14 May at 11:59 pm.

De-registration in TUCaN

You have to de-register from the exam in TUCaN within the section Examinations > My examinations. More information

You have to submit the medical certificate to the Office for Student Affairs within 3 days after the examination date. This also applies if the exam takes place at another department. The submission can be made in paper form or electronically. This is the only way to withdraw from the examination due to illness in accordance with §15(2) APB in due time.

If the above mentioned documents are not submitted within the deadline, then all exam performances for which a withdrawal should be requested will be evaluated as “insufficient” (5,0), since the exam date was missed without excuse. This also eliminates the possibility of an oral supplementary examination for third examinations attempts.
