Joint Bachelor of Arts (J.B.A.)

The Joint Bachelor of Arts degree program allows students to combine two fields of study, which are studied side by side on an equal footing. With the degree "Joint Bachelor of Arts" a first professionally qualifying degree is achieved. This can be used to start a career or to gain further qualifications in a corresponding master's program.

The Joint Bachelor of Arts is a first academic degree with professional qualification. The combination of two subjects ensures on the one hand a unique broadness and variety within the basic education, which leads into a disciplinary specialization in a following master-program. On the other hand, it provides a greater flexibility as an one-subject-program by giving graduates the opportunity, to make their subject choice for the master-program after gaining scientific knowledge in two disciplines. Studying for a Bachelor's degree typically takes six semesters. Following subjects can be studied (German taught):

Subject 1:

Digital Philology

German Studies

History

Philosophy

Political Science

Sociology

Subject 2:

In addition, the program allows students an early introduction into interdisciplinary questions. The educational objectives in this field of study are a basic introduction to rational and scientific thinking, argumentation and working on the basis of a solid scientific training in two disciplines. An optional area provides also profession-relevant key competencies and interdisciplinary insights.
