Since 2012, the Department of History and Social Sciences pools its joint, distinguished and interdisziplinary connected research into three interdisziplinary research areas: "Digital Humanities", "Urban Studies" and "Transformation of Energy and Climate Policy". The research areas connects research beyond the department within the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Rhine-Main Universities Alliance.
Digitality is a key topic of the 21st century, encompassing all areas of science and society. In the research focus "Digital Humanities (DH)", we conduct research with and on digital data by analysing them with digital methods and techniques. Conceptual and methodological reflection as well as theory building on digitality are driven by an interdisciplinary discussion within the research focus DH at TU Darmstadt.
